Inauguration of the International Year of Quantum 2025

On February 4–5, QSIP participated in the inauguration of the International Year of Quantum at UNESCO headquarters in Paris. The event kicked off on the evening of February 3 with a reception, with approx. 150 participants from different countries, organized by The Quantum Economic Development Consortium (QED-C) and the American Embassy.

The inauguration itself began on February 4 in the main hall at UNESCO headquarters. It is estimated that there were between 800-900 people in attendance. The program included several panel discussions but also four presentations by former Nobel laureates including our Swedish Anne L'Huillier. The panel discussions focused on international collaborations and how to ensure that all countries have access to the quantum computers of the future. During the second day, the inauguration was held in the slightly smaller "Hall 2" with an estimated audience of 400-500 people. During the day, a demand, or wish, was presented from UNESCO that all countries should have at least one quantum event during 2025. In Sweden, at least three events are already planned:
