SUMMARY:Excellence cluster: Quantum Sensor Workshop
DESCRIPTION:SAVE-THE-DATE\n\nIn the rapidly developing field of quantum sen
 sing\, quantum phenomena such as superposition and entanglement are harnes
 sed to perform measurements of e.g. time and frequency\, electromagnetic f
 ields\, gravity\, and acceleration\, with an accuracy that exceeds that of
  any classical sensor. Applications of quantum sensors range from dark mat
 ter and gravitational wave detection in fundamental physics and ultra-prec
 ise time keeping for global positioning systems to advanced magnetic reson
 ance imaging in medicine and precise exploration of minerals\, oil and gas
 .\n\nTo advance quantum sensor science and technology in Sweden\, the Swed
 ish Research Council (VR) and the Swedish Innovation Agency (Vinnova) rece
 ntly each supported an application for a planning grant towards a future e
 xcellence cluster with the focus on quantum sensing. As a first step of th
 is planning\, a joint workshop on Quantum sensing will be arranged in Lund
 \, at the Loop (Science Village)\, November 26-27. The workshop will bring
  together people with an interest in quantum sensing\, ranging from fundam
 ental science\, via applications and innovations\, to start-ups and indust
 ry. By presentations\, discussions and networking\, the workshop will lay 
 the foundation for the planning of the excellence clusters.\n\nFurther det
