DESCRIPTION:\nIt is time for QSIP's first webinar! \n\n\n\nAbstract\n\n\nQ
uantum technology is still a relatively immature field when it comes to co
mmercial applications. However\, new companies have emerged in the field i
nitially supplying quantum tech and services that enable the development a
nd progress of applications.\nScalinq and ConScience are spin-off companie
s from quantum research at Chalmers. They are already having significant t
urn-over from their businesses. But how did they manage to go from researc
h results to successful business in a fairly short time.\nAt this first we
binar\, Zaid Saeed from Scalinq and Andy Smith from ConScience will tell
us about their journeys as start-ups in quantum technology.\nIf you are i

SUMMARY:Innovation in Quantum Communication
DESCRIPTION:A Workshop Exploring the Next Frontier\nAbout the Event\nQuantu
m is like fusion\; always just out of reach\, but with the promise to chan
ge everything once it does arrive. Also like with fusion—where an actual
reactor is being built right on KTH campus—KTH is very competitive\, es
pecially when it comes to quantum communication.\n\nQuantum key distributi
on used to be science fiction\, but what is happening now in the lab and w
hat’s being implemented in testbeds all over Europe\, will fundamentally
change how we think about cyber security. Impact on priorities and roadma
ps will be huge\, both for startups and for established corporates. And mo
re importantly: business opportunities will arise that we can’t even beg
in to imagine.\n\nWelcome to join us in this workshop to explore the futur

SUMMARY:Workshop: Quantum & Cyber Security
DESCRIPTION:Background\nQuantum computers have the potential to break widel
y used public-key cryptosystems\, such as RSA and elliptic-curve cryptogra
phy (ECC)\, which are omnipresent in our communication infrastructures inc
luding the Internet. All data exchange using RSA and ECC protocols is at
risk - those includes the key exchange procedures as well as the digit
al signatures based on RSA and ECC.  Decrypting RSA and ECC is equivalen
t to moving back to the early days of the Internet when only a fraction of
digital assets was protected. Today\, when many if not most of our living
aspects are digitalized\, there is much more at stake.\n\n”Collect now
\, decrypt later”. This principle means that data sessions of today can
be recorded and decrypted later when a powerful enough quantum computer
will be available. It applies for example to medical records and other se
nsitive personal data which needs to be stored long term by regulation.
In practice\, it means that migration to quantum-safe solutions needs to s
tart already today – we need to begin making the public and private sect
ors aware about the necessity and support their transition to the post-qua
ntum secure future.\n\nIn this workshop\, we elaborate on recent and proje
cted developments in quantum computing (QC)\, how a QC is capable to brea
k some of the wide-spread encryption systems\, and what we can do about i
 t\, covering a general and industry-specific use-cases.\n\nProgram\n12.15

SUMMARY:Webinar: How to balance between internationalization and safeguardi
 ng Swedish assets
DESCRIPTION:Research and innovation in the quantum field is crucial to crea
ting prosperous societies for the future. Cooperation as well as competiti
on between countries and between companies is positive for the development
of technology.\n\nHowever\, the international race leads to risks of espi
onage\, technology theft and various kinds of intrusions into the intangib
le world. In this webinar\, we examine the difficult balance between inter
nationalization and safeguarding Swedish assets.\n\nWhich legislation and
which rules do we have to deal with at national and EU level? Which author
ities agree on which issues? Which networks do we as innovation promoters
in quantum technology need to be active in?\n\nHow should we act practical
ly to both create and protect the value of the technology that is develope
d at the academy\, in cooperation between academia and industry and in int
ernational cooperation projects?\n\nWe may not find all the answers in thi
s hour\, but we can go some way to solving the puzzle.\n\nThe webinar is l
ed by Christin Wendel at UU Innovation. She previously has extensive exper
ience from PRV\, where she coordinated PRV's activities for and with Swedi
sh higher education institutions in matters of intangible assets and intel
lectual property rights.\n\nIf you are interested in this webinar\, please

SUMMARY:Workshop: Feasibility of Developing a Quantum Computer based on Swe
 dish commercial components
DESCRIPTION:Quantum computing (QC) offers transformative potential in proce
ssing of vast datasets\, performing high-dimensional simulations\, and opt
imising complex systems which would be impossible for classical computers.
This positions QC as a paradigm-shifting tool for unlocking multi-billion
dollar opportunities across industries like financial services\, global e
nergy and materials\, travel and logistics\, pharmaceuticals and medical p
 roducts\, insurance\, telecommunications\, automotive\, aerospace\, defens
ive and advanced electronics. QC’s potential economic impact across sect
ors are expected to reach $0.9-2 trillion by 2035. However\, achieving thi
s potential depends on overcoming significant technological and economic b
arriers that currently restrict QC’s broader adoption.\n\nBased on decad
es of research at Swedish world class universities and the entrepreneurial
mindset of their employees\, Sweden is in a unique position to corner a s
ubstantial portion of the QC hardware market and become a world leader in
this domain. Specifically\, Sweden is one of the few countries in the worl
d with the capability to build its own superconducting quantum computer\,
relying almost solely on companies originating from its domestic market.\n
 \nOn March 4th (9-12)\, QSIP organizes a workshop\, hosted by Con-Science\
, with the aim to gather different competencies from within Sweden to asse
ss the feasibility of a Swedish built quantum computer based on commercial
products from Swedish companies. The workshop aims to prepare a project p
lan for a feasibility study\, which may be used as a platform for a larger
project to realize a Swedish quantum computer.\n\nVenue:\n\nA Working Lab

SUMMARY:QSIP Webinar - Female Role Models: Dr. Rui Lin
DESCRIPTION:On May 28\, 12:00-13:00\, it is time for our next webinar.\n\nT
his webinar is a part of the QSIP's equality work and we hope that this pr
esentation can encourage younger females to pursue a career with in Quantu
m Technology.\n\n\n\n\nTitle\nPhysical-layer Impairment in Integrating QKD
to Optical Fiber Networks\n\n\n\nAbstract\nQuantum Key Distribution (QKD)
is currently the most mature quantum technology\, transitioning from lab
oratory research to real-world secure communication\napplications. However
\, the deployment of dedicated infrastructure for QKD remains prohibitivel
y expensive. A more practical and scalable approach is to integrate QKD wi
th existing optical communication networks\, leveraging the current infra
structure to reduce deployment costs. In this work\, we explore the primar
y challenges associated with such integration. As QKD systems are expected
to operate alongside classical data traffic—especially in dense\, resou
rce-constrained optical networks—it becomes essential to understand and
mitigate the interactions between quantum and classical signals. A central
focus of our study is the physical-layer impairments resulting from the c
o-propagation of quantum and classical signals within the same optical fib
er. In addition\, we examine the impairments introduced by the switching c
omponents in the network\, such as optical switches and reconfigurable opt
ical add-drop multiplexers (ROADMs)\, which can further degrade quantum si
gnal quality and pose additional hurdles for seamless QKD integration.&nbs
p\;\n\nBio\nDr. Rui Lin received her Ph.D. in Communication Systems from K
TH Royal Institute of Technology in 2017\, where she also held a postdocto
ral position focusing on high-speed optical communication systems. Since
2019\, she has been a researcher at Chalmers University of Technology\, wh
ere she broadened her expertise into quantumcommunication and networks. He
r current research lies at the intersection of classical and quantum netwo
rking. She currently leads a research group of four researchers focused o
n the emerging field of quantum networks.\n\n\n\n\nIf you are interested t

DESCRIPTION:On June 17\, 10:00-11:00\, it is time for our next webinar.\n\n
This webinar is a part of the QSIP's equality work and we hope that this p
resentation can encourage younger females to pursue a career with in Quant
um Technology.\n\n\n\n\nAbstract\n\n¨It is common to hear that once you s
tudy physics\, you end up either doing\nresearch or going to industry. In
a career path\, there is no either or\; your professional experience is bu
ilt day by day by your choices and the skills you develop.\nI studied aero
space engineering and ended up working in industry\, for the number\none E
uropean multinational aerospace and defense corporation. At that time\, my
career development was settled\, and I would have become one of the leadi
ng managers. However\, I asked myself the questions: what do I wanttodo? W
hat makes me happy?\nDuring this talk I will take you through my professio
nal journey\, how I built QURECA\, and how we support the quantum ecosyste
 m globally.\n\n\n\nBio\n\n\nDr. Araceli Venegas-Gomez spent several years
working for Airbus in Germany and France as an aerospace engineer\, before
falling in love with quantum mechanics. She then decided to follow her pa
ssion for physics and moved to Scotland to pursue a PhD in quantum simulat
ion at the University of Strathclyde. Following discussions with the diffe
rent quantum stakeholders she had over the last years\, Araceli identified
the need to bridge the gap between businesses and academia\, as well as t
o raise the quantum awareness to the general public. Continuing her work o
n outreach advocating quantum technologies\, she was named the “quantum
ambassador”\, after winning the Optical Society Milton and Rosalind Chan
g Pivoting fellowship in 2019. Araceli founded her own company called QURE
CA (Quantum Resources and Careers) to create a link between the different
stakeholders in the quantum community through a common language\, and to
generate global opportunities with quantum technologies. QURECA provides a
range of professional services\, business development\, and the solution
to the quantum workforce skills bottleneck: the first online platform for
quantum training\, to support individuals and businesses to be part of the
quantum revolution. \n\n\n\nIf you are interested to join this webinar\,

SUMMARY:QSIP webinar: Female Role Models
DESCRIPTION:On Oct 15th\, 12:00-13:00\, Dr Mirella Koleva\, CEO at Quantopt

ithin our webinar-serie "Female Role Models".\n\nThis webinar is a part of
the QSIP's equality work and we hope that this presentation can encourage
younger females to pursue a career with in Quantum Technology.\n\nIf you
are interested to join\, please sign up here.\n\nTitle: Developing the Wo
rld’s First Dedicated Software Suite for Quantum Photonics Modelling and
Simulation\n\nAbstract \nQuantopticon is developing the world's first vi
rtual prototyping software platform which accurately predicts and optimise
s the quantum performance of quantum-photonic devices and circuits. Called
Quantillion\, this quantum electrodynamics platform fundamentally transfo
rms the design workflow for key components\, such as quantum light emitter
 s\, optical/microwave qubits\, quantum memories\, quantum repeater nodes a
nd others. By enabling engineers and researchers to validate device archit
ectures virtually “right first time”\, Quantillion dramatically reduce
s both the cost and development time traditionally associated with iterati
ve hardware prototyping. In this talk\, we will describe our streamlined a
pproach which accelerates the broader digital transition within the quantu
m technology sector\, and how it facilitates the creation of integrable\,
scalable components suitable for a wide range of high-impact applications
 – from ultra-secure communication networks to next-generation position\,
navigation and timing systems.\n\nBio\nDr Mirella Koleva is CEO and Co-fo
under of Quantopticon. She received her PhD in Photonics from Imperial Col
lege London in 2014. From there she went on to hold positions as postdocto
ral research scientist in optics at University of Oxford\, then in King’
s College London – until 2019 when she left academia and focused full-ti
me on growing her company. Mirella is a recipient of the 2020 David Walsh
Award for Outstanding Teamwork and Leadership and in 2021 won the title
‘Most Influential CEO – London\, UK’. She is a serial pitch competit
ion winner\, notably having clinched second place at the annual SPIE Start
up Challenge in San Francisco in 2022 and\, more recently\, the TechRise E
merging Tech competition in Chicago in 2025. \n\nDr Gaby Slavcheva is Co-
founder and Chief Scientific Officer of Quantopticon. She is an internatio
nal leader in the theory and modelling of light-matter interactions in qua
ntum-photonic structures. She has published several books and over 130 art
icles in top journals\, mostly as first author. Over the course of her car
eer\, Gaby has been awarded prestigious fellowships and associate professo
rships in several institutions of international renown – including Écol
e Normale Supérieure and Imperial College London. She pioneered Quantilli
on's groundbreaking algorithm which seamlessly sews together the theories
of electromagnetism and quantum mechanics.\n\n\nIf you are interested to j
