In the rapidly developing field of quantum sensing, quantum phenomena such as superposition and entanglement are harnessed to perform measurements of e.g. time and frequency, electromagnetic fields, gravity, and acceleration, with an accuracy that exceeds that of any classical sensor. Applications of quantum sensors range from dark matter and gravitational wave detection in fundamental physics and ultra-precise time keeping for global positioning systems to advanced magnetic resonance imaging in medicine and precise exploration of minerals, oil and gas.

To advance quantum sensor science and technology in Sweden, the Swedish Research Council (VR) and the Swedish Innovation Agency (Vinnova) recently each supported an application for a planning grant towards a future excellence cluster with the focus on quantum sensing. As a first step of this planning, a joint workshop on Quantum sensing will be arranged in Lund, at the Loop (Science Village), November 26-27. The workshop will bring together people with an interest in quantum sensing, ranging from fundamental science, via applications and innovations, to start-ups and industry. By presentations, discussions and networking, the workshop will lay the foundation for the planning of the excellence clusters.

Further details, including agenda, will be shared shortly. In the meantime, please use this form to express your interest in participating.
